Q Requirements: Read Ethos, Pathos, Logos link on iLearn Respond to prompt by Fri 3/15 at 11:55pm Respond to 2 peers by Sun 3/17 at 11:55pm Description: For this discussion question, we are exploring how ethos, pathos, and logos are applied in advertising and persuasive speaking. Ethos, Pathos, and Logos are the different modes of persuasion that you can appeal to in your speeches. If you are trying to convince the audience to do or believe something (like which album should be sent into space to represent humankind), you'll want to use these three different odes of persuasion. I want you to do a couple of things for the DQ: 1. First, I want you to define ethos, pathos, and logos. You do not need a super long explanation of each but I want to see that you understand what they are at a basic level. 2. I want you to watch these three commercial videos that I have pasted below. All three use one or more of the three modes of persuasion and I want you to identify and explain which modes of persuasion each commercial uses. Please do not forget to explain why you believe the commercial is using ethos, pathos, and/or logos. Finally, I want you to discuss how you are going to use at least ONE of these modes of persuasion in your persuasive speech. You do not need to provide an example fo each one but think about how you can use, for example, pathos in your persuasive speech. Will you do this in your delivery? Will you appeal to the audience's emotion in the content of what it is that you are saying? Think about HOW you are going to be persuasive in your speech. Helpful Thoughts: This DQ is supposed to get you thinking about how you can be persuasive in your Album Review Speech. We have all used ethos pathos, and logos in our everyday lives when we are trying to persuade or convince someone to take our side of an argument. There are many ways that you can use these modes of persuasion, you can do so both verbally and nonverbally. Try to think of all your performance choices and how they can influence your persuasiveness.
